Title: Rich
Artist: uncredited
Publisher: Pocket Books
Year: 1979
Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website
Comments: A very "Romance" type cover. I love the grey headed fellow with the dour expression. Another of Masterton's impressive historical sagas. J.R. Ewing eat your heart out. Couldn't get the tag off this one either so you know just how much I paid for it.

Comments: A minimalist take on 'Rich'. Doesn't really seem to suit the sweeping scale of Masterton's historical saga, but it's cool to see. Maybe the idea was "from such humble beginnings, obscenely rich people are born".

Thanks to Kent Songer.

Comments: Another cover for "RICH" sent in by filmmaker Mariano Baino. I love this cover and the back which stresses all the things "RICH" is as a book. The illustration here looks very similar to the one for the Sphere edition of Maiden Voyage. Looks like the same artist. I love the various takes on Graham's historical sagas.

Mariano says of this one:

I think the back is sooooo seventies! With a style of illustration which has now disappeared and which always remind me of those children encyclopedias they used to make our parents buy at exorbitant prices and which now I pick up for peanuts in second hand bookshops just to marvel at the wonderfully naive pictures
I agree. The back is like "Hey baby, why don't you bring your umbrella along for a ride in my Delorean. I hope those gents fighting don't get any blood on my fabulous white jumpsuit".

Mariano and I seem to share a fascination for all things designed in the seventies.

Thanks again Mariano!

Comments: Another hardback edition of 'Rich' from Ron Sutton. Can you imagine if you walked into a big boardroom and this group was waiting for you, giving you this look? Especially the old guy in the tuxedo.

Very different looking cover for this historical epic about striking it rich in the oil business. Only one thing I want to know. Who shot J.R.? I'm betting it was the old guy.

Comments: Another edition of RICH. I really like the tagline for this edition. If only we could all claw our way to super-wealth. The painting is nicely done, and there's that same Masterton "proto-woman" who seems to appear on every cover.

Thanks to Lars Ove.
