Title: The Wells of Hell Artist: uncredited Publisher: TOR Year: 1982 Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website Comments: This is a very creepy and not subtle cover. That's some nasty $#@! in that bucket.
Title: The Wells of Hell Artist: uncredited Publisher: Sphere Year: 1981 Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website Comments: A horror filled painting for a horror filled novel about contaminated wells that turn people into chitinous creatures that kill, kill, kill. Kafka meets Kubrick in this wonderful novel. I like this cover much more than the one above. It's a general sort of painting, not directly related to the book, but sometimes that's the best way. Thanks to MB for the contribution.
Title: The Wells of Hell Artist: uncredited Publisher: Firecrest Year: 1979 Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website Comments: Another Masterton-piece from Ron Sutton. This is a hardback edition of The Wells of Hell. Am I the only one here who played with that "Slime" toy in the 70s? I'll bet you a hundred bucks that is what was used as the inspiration for this cover. Or maybe that's the guy's skin turning into a chitnous shell. One of the things I loved about The Wells of Hell was that the hero of the book had a cat as a pet and drove around in his station wagon with the cat in the back. While I love dogs, I have been an apartment dweller for years and currently have two feline brothers who love Masterton almost as much as they love smashing Christmas ornaments. At least I'll bet that's what they would say if they could speak.
Hope this guy washes his hands before he tries to pet his cat!
Thanks Ron! Keep those rarities coming.
Title: The Wells of Hell Artist: uncredited Publisher: Sphere Year: 1981 Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website Comments: This edition of 'The Wells of Hell' is part of a series Sphere published in the late 70's early 80's, all with scary looking faces on the cover. This face reminds me a lot of Carol Channing. A big thank you to Mag Read for sharing this one from her collection!
Title: The Wells of Hell Artist: Publisher: Year: Synopsis: See Graham Masterton Official Website Comments: John Mason sends us this UK edition of 'The Wells of Hell' with a nasty looking insect-dog on the cover. Very similar to other Sphere covers from the time including Revenge of the Manitou and Charnel House. I'll bet the ooze dripping out of this thing's mouth could strip the paint off an old desk! Thanks John!
